Goals: 1. Know the vocabulary: atoms, elements, molecules and compounds 2. Know that gases are made of tiny particles, moving at fast speeds and separated by relatively large distances. 3. Know that chemical reactions are the rearranging of atoms. 4. Know the meaning of subscripts and coefficients.
Weekly Schedule
Monday: (Substitute) Video on Atoms, 5 questions on video Block Day: Lab on Electrolysis, questions from the board about the lab, Homework: Reading with Questions Thursday: Go over homework, start posters in groups Friday: Finish and Share Posters, catch up and quiz

Second Week Goals and Activities (Sept.19 - 23)
Second Week Goals 1. Describe similarities and differences in chemical reactions. 2. Describe similarities and differences in properties of gases. 3. Develop and follow procedures to make Carbon Dioxide (CO2)and Hydrogen (H2) 4. Know properties of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Hydrogen (H2) 5. Be able to write equations for the reactions that produce CO2 and H2 and know the formulas and names of the chemicals
second Week Activities
Monday: Return and go over previous week quizzes and notebooks, Video about Air (Notes go in Notebook),Reading about CO2 and H2 Homework: Answer questions about the reading Block Day: Lab -- gases Part 2 - Reactions to make Carbon Dioxide and Hydrogen Link to lab handout with questions Homework: Individual Answer Sheet for Lab, Write Conclusion for LabThe link in the right column has the class standards for writing conclusions.
